We’re NOT your ordinary rescue.
We don’t just rescue dogs and find them new homes. We strongly advocate for RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERSHIP, particularly for our bully breeds, and include TRAINING as an INTEGRAL PART of our mission.

Rescue. Train. Adopt. Educate.

Pittie Posse rescues our dogs from a variety of bad situations: local owner surrenders in the state of Maine, dogs on kill lists for shelters in the south, and dogs seized in cruelty/criminal cases.

Pittie Posse carefully screens potential adopters, getting vet and landlord checks where applicable, and conducting virtual home visits to match our dogs with aligned families. Once someone adopts from us, they become a part of our community and we stay connected to support them (and gush over future photos of our happy dogs), often offering training resources, volunteer opportunities, and community ties that last years.

Pittie Posse is unique in that we don’t just provide a funnel for dogs to come from the south to the north. We model and advocate for responsible dog ownership, especially for our bully breeds who are judged more harshly than other breeds. Training is an integral part of our mission, and the land are raising funds for will house a training facility where we can train our dogs before they go to their foster homes, offer free training for bully breed owners in the state of Maine, AND offer training, boarding, and doggy day care to the community as an income source for the rescue.

Pittie Posse is on a mission to teach, model, and spread the concept of responsible dog ownership. We work within communities to provide free dog training, info sessions on how to properly socialize puppies, work to advocate for the bully breeds, and will eventually be working with local communities (such as schools, law enforcement, etc) to educate people on the connections between happy pets and happy people, and conversely, and how to responsibly love and care for your bully breed.

How you can help

Donate
Your donations are SO important. Right now donations go towards 1) rescuing and caring for dogs from shelters who are at high risk of euthanasia, or 2) our Land Fund to purchase land for kennels, a training facility, and more!

Foster
To save a dogs life, we need a foster home here in Maine to step up. Fosters get all expenses covered, and are just asked to love the dog, provide a safe, happy, healthy temporary home, and work with dog on basic training.

Volunteer
Our volunteers can be both local OR non-local from anywhere in the world. We are 100% volunteer run so we use volunteers in every aspect of the rescue—everything from helping at events to processing applications.

Adopt
Looking for a new friend? We adopt our dogs all over—not just in Maine. Our dogs come to you vetted and fixed, and receive training if needed. We work to make sure you and your dog are the right fit for each other.

Breaking the Barrier on Pitbull Adoptions
The organization’s goal is to change the public’s perception of bully breeds.
Pittie Posse focuses on the rehabilitation and positive training of good dogs throughout Maine. They also train owners to be more responsible.
Pittie Posse also uses foster homes across the state to get the dogs ready for adoption.
